IN A NUTSHELL: Lehigh used a strong running game and took advantage of a North Port error on a punt to gain an 18-7 victory over host North Port in the Kickoff Classic. Running back Chris Curry ran for almost 100 yards and the visitors generally controlled the line of scrimmage.

DID YOU SEE THAT: The Lightning’s Demontae Hart fell on a Lehigh punt that rolled into the end zone for the go-ahead touchdown in the third quarter. The officials ruled that a North Port player had touched the ball.

THE GAME WAS OVER WHEN: Lehigh running back Jalane Nelson scored from the three-yard line with 22 seconds left in the game to clinch the victory. That ended a short drive that took time off the clock.

UNSUNG HERO: Sophomore Cade Koerick tipped a Lehigh punt and was in on numerous tackles in a solid defense effort for the Bobcats. He also kicked the Bobcats’ extra point.

THEY SAID IT: “We did well. We gained three turnovers. CK Poulos had a good game both offensively and defensively and Skylar (Razwilavich) made some big plays.” — North Port coach Brian Hatler
