NORTH PORT — They just kept coming.

Kill, after kill, after kill.

And there was nothing the Bobcats could do about it.

Thanks to a team-combined 41 kills, including 10 by Gabrielle Curran, Gulf Coast defeated North Port 25-13, 25-8, 25-18  Tuesday night to remain unbeaten in the district opener for both teams.

The loss was the first of the season for the Bobcats (3-1).

“They have good hitters, good setters and we struggled a little bit on defense,” North Port coach Adrienne Moreno said

The Sharks (4-0) also got nine kills from Morgan Brucato and six more from Emily Damon. The trio of Curran, Brucato and Damon set the tempo from the start for the defending district champs.

On Tuesday night, the Bobcats swung and missed. They’re now 0-5 in district matches going back to last season.

On deck is another district match against Riverdale next week, where they’ll try to swing and finally hit.
