BRYAN’S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

This week I have to give it to Savorion Warren.

Three interceptions for an entire defense can change the game. Warren had three all by himself.

Even though the Tarpons won by 30 points, not all of his picks came when it was a blowout.

It was only a seven-point game when Warren got his first. It happened just before halftime with Charlotte up 28-21, and gave his team some momentum headed into the locker room.

That interception set up a 33-yard touchdown pass from Dee Hicks to Ny Harvey for a 35-21 lead at the break.

He got another one midway through the third quarter, deep in the Tarpons’ zone. Charlotte needed only one play to capitalize on that interception, as Hicks ran for a 91-yard score on the first offensive play.

JORDAN’S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

My pick for athlete of the week has to go to Charlotte defensive back Savorion Warren.

He was a game changer in the Tarpons’ 63-33 blowout win over North Miami last Friday, intercepting three passes that helped Charlotte run away with the game.

Warren’s second interception was on a deep ball inside Charlotte’s 10-yard line with the Tarpons leading 42-21 in the third quarter.

A touchdown could’ve gotten North Miami back into the game but Warren wouldn’t allow it.

That interception set up Charlotte’s seventh touchdown of the night on the very next play, a 91-yard scoring run by quarterback Dee Hicks to put the game away.

Warren’s final interception gave Charlotte the ball near midfield and set up Maleek Williams’ third touchdown of the night.

Charlotte’s offense put up the points but it was Warren who had just as great of an impact in the victory. That’s why he’s my choice for athlete of the week.
