IN A NUTSHELL: Port Charlotte’s defense posted its second shutout in five days following Monday’s 56-0 win over Cape Coral. The defense only allowed 79 yards of offense for Booker, giving its own offense time to shake off a sluggish start. The Pirates finished with 352 rushing yards, led by three touchdowns by Shawn Campbell. TJ Luther also scored on a 51-yard reverse and led all rushers with 98 yards on only four carries.

DID YOU SEE THAT: Port Charlotte quarterback Paul Barnes took a snap and ran right in the option, carrying the Booker defense along with him. Barnes then handed the ball to Luther on a reverse and Luther bounced around the left side and up the sideline, dancing by defenders while also getting some key blocks from his receivers on his way to a 51-yard touchdown.

THE GAME WAS OVER WHEN: Luther’s 51-yard touchdown woke up the crowd on homecoming and pretty much put the nail in Booker’s coffin. The Tornadoes struggled to move the ball all night and a 21-0 deficit was insurmountable for them midway through the third quarter.

UNSUNG HERO: The entire Port Charlotte defense. Everyone will be amazed by the 352 rushing yards by the Pirates’ offense but the defense held Booker to only 79 yards of offense, all while doing in on only three days rest.

THEY SAID IT: “We struggled in the first half. No doubt. We dropped four touchdown passes [in the game], had a reverse called back for a touchdown [in the second half] and fumbled near their 10-yard line. We definitely shot ourselves in the foot a fair share tonight and that’s on me. I did a poor job of getting our guys to focus. I’ve got to do a better job of getting our guys to no be complacent and make sure we come out of the gate firing on all cylinders.” -Port Charlotte coach Jordan Ingman.
