IN A NUTSHELL: Lemon Bay’s defense did all it could, sacking Southeast quarterback Alex Taylor seven times and even recording a safety. But the Seminoles overcame an early 9-0 deficit thanks to two safeties of their own, one of which led to a 55-yard kick return by Terrance Pryor. Southeast didn’t even score on offense until the fourth quarter but it was the ultimate back-breaker, a 22-yard touchdown pass from Taylor to Tyler Stevenson on a 4th-and-12 that put Southeast ahead 21-9 and the game to bed, eliminating Lemon Bay from the class 5A playoff race.

DID YOU SEE THAT: After Southeast got on a board with a safety when Dequan Williams sacked Hayden Wolff in the end zone, Terrance Pryor made a play for his highlight reel. Pryor returned the ensuing free kick 55 yards for a touchdown to tie the game but it wasn’t easy. He juked past multiple defenders on his way there and even escaped a Lemon Bay defender who had a fist full of jersey, all while tiptoeing the sideline on his way to pay dirt.

THE GAME WAS OVER WHEN: Trailing 14-9 with less than two minutes to play, Lemon Bay’s defense thought it came up with a stop with Southeast driving at the Manta Rays’ 22-yard line. The Seminoles faced 4th-and-13, but instead of kicking a field goal to extend their lead to eight points, they went for it and it paid off when Taylor connected with Stevenson for a 22-yard touchdown to put Southeast up by 12.

UNSUNG HERO: Joe Eubanks had three-and-a-half sacks while Rob Cerami had three more on a night when Lemon Bay’s defense recorded seven and held Southeast to 117 yards of offense.

THEY SAID IT I: “Field position was huge. We created that ourselves with bad timing of plays,” Ogilvie said. “We had great field position and we gave it right back to them three different times. It was enormous.” — Lemon Bay coach D.J. Ogilvie.

THEY SAID IT II: “Starting drives inside your 10-yard line three different times is a recipe for disaster and that hurts.” — Ogilvie.
