This is the second week in a row I think you guys made the right choice.
Jessica Moore is typically a top-performer for the Tarpons, but what she did in the district title match was spectacular. North Fort Myers attacked Moore, hoping to get her out of rhythm as the team’s setter.
That plan didn’t work, as Moore ended the match with 31 assists. She also was superb defensively with 19 digs.
I feel like Moore’s defensive play was the difference between a three-set sweep for Charlotte and giving the Red Knights a chance to feel like they could’ve won that match.
One athlete stood out above all the others this week and that was Lemon Bay runner Kelsi Ogilvie.
The senior not only ran to a district title over the weekend but she also set the school record with a time of 18 minutes, 48 seconds on the 5-kilometer course. Lemon Bay also won the District 11-2A title as a team.
Ogilvie shattered the previous school record by 13 seconds. That made my decision pretty easy.
