FOOTBALL: Week 10 preview capsules

Lemon Bay (1-7) at Bayshore (0-7)

Time: 7:30 p.m.
Last week: Booker 30, Lemon Bay 15; DeSoto County 22, Bayshore 14

Last season: Lemon Bay 36, Bayshore 7
Players to watch: Lemon Bay: Victor Mellor (Sr., ATH), Brayden Curry (Sr., RB), Logan Lydic (Jr., LB); Bayshore: Miguel Rodriguez (Jr., WR/DB), Dwight Jackson (Sr., WR).
What to expect: This was a win for the Manta Rays a year ago, so they’ll look to repeat that performance tonight. Area teams have used Bayshore to get off a losing streak this season. Lemon Bay can be expected to do the same against the winless Bruins.

North Port (1-7) at Lakewood Ranch (0-7)

Time: 7:30 p.m.
Last week: Sarasota 13, North Port 12; Venice 62, Lakewood Ranch 0

Last season: Lakewood Ranch 42, North Port 7

Players to watch: North Port: Skylar Razwilavich (Jr., QB), C.K. Poulos (Jr., WR), Devon Allen (Jr., WR); Lakewood Ranch: Justin Curtis (Jr., QB), Kalen Johnson (Sr., WR).
What to expect: This is another chance for the Bobcats to get into the win column against a Lakewood Ranch team still searching for its first win of the season. North Port lost a tough one last week, while the Mustangs are coming off a blowout loss against Venice. Look for the Bobcats to come out seeking revenge for the way they lost against Sarasota a week ago.

Venice (7-0) at Palmetto (6-2)

Time: 7:30 p.m.
Last week: Venice 62, Lakewood Ranch 0; Braden River 35, Lakewood Ranch 0
Last season: Venice 45, Palmetto 10

Players to watch: Venice: Court Doss (Jr., RB), Bryce Carpenter (Jr., QB); Palmetto: Anthony Marino (So., QB), Isaiah Washington (Sr., DL).

What to expect: It’s the final district test for the Indians, but don’t expect them to stumble on this one. Should be another simple win for Venice, as it starts to turn the focus to the playoffs with an eye on a state championship.

DeSoto County (2-6) at Hardee (6-2)

Time: 7 p.m.

Last week: DeSoto County 22, Bayshore 14; Hardee 20, Southeast 10

Last season: DeSoto County 17, Hardee 14
Players to watch: DeSoto County: Niron Washington (Sr. RB/DB), Emmanuel Wesley (Sr., WR/DB). Hardee: Hayden Lindsey (Sr., QB), Jaquavious Kimbrough (Sr., ATH).
What to expect: This was a win for the Bulldogs last year, but this isn’t the same Hardee team. The Wildcats are much improved, and have become the best team in the district. DeSoto County is coming off a win from last week, so they could possibly ride that momentum into win again this week.
