IN A NUTSHELL:  Carol City was simply the better team Friday night. They held the Tarpons to just 57 yards of offense, while they picked up 418 yards for themselves. The Chiefs got to a running clock in the third quarter after building up a 33-0 halftime lead.

DID YOU SEE THAT: Carol City QB Marlon Smith found Terrence Horne Jr. for a 46-yard touchdown pass just seconds before halftime to extend the lead and give them what felt like a margin they had no chance of losing.

THE GAME WAS OVER WHEN:  Midway through the second quarter, Naytron Culpepper returned a punt 45 yards, but fumbled it at the five yard-line just before reaching the end zone. Teammate Zion Hartfield was there to recover the ball, take it the rest of the way for a touchdown, and give his team a 20-0 lead.

UNSUNG HERO: Even when the game was out of reach, quarterback Dee Hicks didn’t stop slinging it to try to get his team on the scoreboard. Hicks completed two of his three passes on the team’s final real drive, and had gains of 15 and 37 on those completions.

THEY SAID IT: “It was a great four years. I love my team. I love all my teammates. I love my coaches. I love the fans. I love this school. It was a great ride. I’m going to focus on the good not the bad.” – Charlotte quarterback Dee Hicks.
