The Manta Rays hung on and protected a lead Tuesday night, defeating Cardinal Mooney 67-61.
Jake Comer had a team-high 16 points to lead the Manta Rays in the win. Hayden Wolff added 12 points and Luke Morrill had 10 points.
Lemon Bay led 41-38 at the half, and held the Cougars to just five points in the third quarter. The Manta Rays were 17 of 24 overall from the free-throw line, including 12 made in the closing quarter.
CHARLOTTE 64, NORTH PORT MYERS 18
The Tarpons improved to 10-6 on the season with a big 64-18 win over district foe North Fort MYers to remain unbeaten on the year in league play.
Kelyn Moses had a team-high 17 points in the win to go along with four assists and three steals. Kayla Lamb (12) and Matisyn Moses (10) were each in double figures for the Tarpons. Matisyn also had a team-best eight rebounds.
Charlotte went into halftime with a 40-12 lead. The Tarpons also shot nearly 50 percent from the field. Other notable contributors were Taylor Kirkus and Michelle Bunch each with six points and seven rebounds and Alani Qualls with six points, four steals, three rebounds and three assists.
