SOFTBALL

NORTH FORT MYERS 7, CHARLOTTE 1

NORTH FORT MYERS — North Fort Myers’ girls softball team had a trio of two-run innings Thursday night on the way to a 7-1 victory against Charlotte.

The Red Knights (2-0) opened the scoring with two runs in the third then added two more in the fourth, a single run in the fifth before finishing with a pair in the sixth. Charlotte (1-1) got its lone run in the seventh.

Tiffany Dodson and Kaylee Brannon had the long hits for the Tarpons.

“We had a lot of runners, but couldn’t get a hit,” Charlotte coach Greg Higgins said. “We left 12 on base.”

The Tarpons play again at 7 p.m. at home against defending state champion Bishop Verot.

LEMON BAY 6, CAPE CORAL 3

Lemon Bay’s softball team improved its record to 3-0 with a 6-3 win Thursday night over Ida Baker in Cape Coral.

Bailey Grossenbacher earned her first win on the season, giving up only four hits in six innings of work. Logan Johnson picked up the save, working a 1-2-3 seventh inning.

Grossenbacher also did damage with her bat, recording three hits, including a double and 2 RBI. Aimee Holt also had three hits and Christian Chandler had two hits.

The Lady Mantas’ next game is Tuesday at 1 p.m. at North Port.

GIRLS TENNIS

Lemon Bay High School’s girls tennis team swept DeSoto County on the road by a score of 7-0 Thursday.

All five Manta Rays won their singles matches in straight sets. Stephanie Krisinski and Ashley Tormey didn’t drop a game, winning their matches 6-0, 6-0.

BOYS TENNIS

Lemon Bay High School boys tennis team swept DeSoto County 7-0 on Thursday.

Every Manta Ray won in two sets in singles, with David Kappelmann, Liam Ryan and Enrique Subero each winning 6-0, 6-0.

LACROSSE

Katie Lockhart scored three goals to lead Port Charlotte’s girls lacrosse team to a 10-6 win over Lely on Thursday. Brooke Ollerenshaw, Brittany King and Hannah Shelton all added two goals apiece while Cassidy Francis chipped in with another.

Madison Craumer scored four goals for the visitors while Bailey Dunstan and Lupi Flores also scored a goal.
