North Port High School broke a 7-all tie with eight unanswered runs in the sixth inning to defeat Lemon Bay 15-7 at home Tuesday afternoon.
The Bobcats took the lead for good when Manta Rays’ pitcher Bailey Grossenbacher walked Kamryn Nazario with the bases loaded.
Liberty Pence earned the win for North Port to improve to 3-1 on the mound this season, giving up zero runs and one hit to go along with three strikeouts in an inning and a third. Grossenbacher was saddled with the loss, surrendering seven runs on six hits with two strikeouts.
Cortney Senna, Brianna Mitchell and Brianna Heider all had two RBI to help North Port improve to 4-1 on the season.
Aimee Holt, Brooke Kvaternick and Karlie Sweiderk each drove in two runs for Lemon Bay, which fell to 3-1 on the season.
The Port Charlotte High School girls lacrosse team defeated Riverdale 9-3 on Tuesday, thanks in large part to its defense. Port Charlotte goalie Megan Flanagan saved 77% shots of Riverdale’s shots goal. Ashton Prater, Brittany King, Cassidy Francis and Katie Lockhart all scored goals for the Pirates.
