PORT CHARLOTTE — Cape Coral took advantage of a spring break hangover on Port Charlotte’s part Tuesday night, scoring five runs on five hits with the help of five Pirates errors.

As a result, the Seahawks picked up their first District 6A-11 victory this season.

The Pirates are third in the district at 5-3.

“Too many errors in the first inning,” Port Charlotte coach Ryann Baker said. “We can’t play ball like that. We were sloppy and we looked like we were still on spring break.”

Baker had a warning for her players entering tonight’s game with North Port.

“If we do that (tonight) we’ll be toast,” Baker said. “We can’t play like that. We just can’t.

“If we don’t see a change, we’re definitely going to see some new faces.”

The Pirates and Seahawks meet again Friday in Cape Coral.
