IN A NUTSHELL: Charlotte built up a 31-7 lead in the first half, which turned out to be too much for Mariner to overcome on the way to a 38-23 victory. The Tarpons used three different quarterbacks (Alex Muse, 2-for-3, 67 yards, interception; Zach Radulesco 1-for-4, 40 yards; Anthony Squitieri 4-for-8, 33 yards).

DID YOU SEE THAT: On the first play of Charlotte’s third drive, Muse found running back Andrew Grace on a beautifully designed screen pass, which Grace took for 43 yards down to four-yard line. That set up Savorion Warren for a touchdown to give the Tarpons a 14-0 lead.

THE GAME WAS OVER WHEN: Jahden Joseph had a 71-yard touchdown on an interception late in the fourth quarter to give Charlotte its only score of the second half and a 38-15 lead.

UNSUNG HERO: Mariner brought the score to 17-7 after its best offensive drive of the first half. Ny Harvey took the ensuing kickoff 83 yards for a touchdown to stun the Tritons and give Charlotte an insurmountable lead.

THEY SAID IT: “We’ll have a decision made Saturday morning. I have to watch some film. … We have to evaluate everything. If we miss some blocks, it’s not fair for them. We got a lot out of tonight.” – Charlotte coach Binky Waldrop on the quarterback decision
