FOOTBALL: Charlotte 2017 preview

By Bryan Levine, SunCoast Sports

STRENGTH

Even though they’re missing a large portion of their playmakers for last season’s team, the Tarpons still return some players who had a big impact and now have important experience. Players like Andrew Grace, Jahden Joseph and Ny and Jeremiah Harvey will have the opportunity to showcase their talents.

WEAKNESS

The Tarpons are younger and not as deep as they’ve been in previous years. This season they will either start or have significant playing time for two freshmen, seven sophomores and 13 juniors. Those players will quickly have to learn what it takes to play under the lights on Friday night.

PLAYER TO WATCH

Savorion Warren, Sr., DB/RB
Warren had a huge impact on the Tarpons defense last season with eight interceptions, 49 tackles and six tackles for a loss. Expect similar numbers while he also sees some time on the offensive side of the ball.

UNDER THE RADAR

Dustyn Hall, Jr., OL
He’s only under the radar because of the position he plays, but Hall is definitely noticed by opposing defensive coordinators and college scouts. The 6-foot-3, 295-pound lineman is a returning all-area selection and is only a junior.
