FOOTBALL: North Port 2017 preview

By Bryan Levine, SunCoast Sports

STRENGTH

The Bobcats return seven starters on both sides of the ball from last season. That offensive and defensive core will be crucial for a team looking to improve from a 1-9 season in 2016.

WEAKNESS

All four newcomers to the starting lineup on offense are on the line. Plenty of fresh faces will have to play a big role in protecting quarterback Devon Allen and making space for their running backs.

PLAYER TO WATCH

C.K. Poulos, Sr., WR
Poulos led the area in receiving across the board. He had an area-best 37 receptions while leading the way with 543 yards and five touchdowns. He will be a major factor in the Bobcats’ offense once again.

UNDER THE RADAR

Jalien Whye, Jr., RB/LB
The Bobcats are excited about Whye, a transfer who recently moved in from Baltimore. He’s had a great camp, and looks to be an impressive running back. He’ll also see some time on defense and special teams.
