NORTH PORT — Brian Battie was ready for Sarasota’s District 7A-11 opener.

But North Port’s defense wasn’t ready for Battie.

Battie gashed the Bobcats for 184 yards on 20 carries and scored three touchdowns to lead the Sailors to a 27-6 win Monday night at the Preserve. The sophomore had scoring runs of 61, 24 and 11 yards as he accounted for over 60 percent of Sarasota’s offense.
