FOOTBALL: Quick turnaround for Bobcats

NORTH PORT — Most football teams hate short weeks, but after the way North Port played Monday night against Sarasota, coach Brian Hatler is glad his Bobcats get to play again on Friday.

North Port (1-2) will host DeSoto County on three days rest, hoping to have a short memory of its 27-6 loss to Sarasota in its District 7A-11 opener. The offense struggled to convert opportunities on the opponent’s side of the field and the defense struggled to stop running back Brian Battie, who bulldozed the Bobcats for 184 yards and three touchdowns.
