SARASOTA — Lemon Bay couldn’t stop shooting itself in the foot against Cardinal Mooney Friday night.

Whether it was offensive penalties to negate touchdowns, defensive penalties prolonging Cougars drives or just plain old turnovers, the Manta Rays committed too many mistake to overcome a good Cougars football team on a soaked field night.

Behind 193 rushing yards and two touchdowns from Minnesota commit Bryce Williams, Cardinal Mooney held off Lemon Bay, 22-7 at Austin Smithers Stadium in a game that was delayed nearly two hours for a lightning-filled thunderstorm.
