BOYS GOLF: Port Charlotte holds big lead after Day 1 of County championship

PORT CHARLOTTE — With a weather-shortened season thanks to Hurricane Irma, the Port Charlotte Pirates found themselves hosting the opening leg of the Charlotte County Championship with just four matches under their belt.

The Pirates will take an 18-stroke lead over Charlotte into the second leg of the three-round championship after they combined to shoot a 170 in Monday’s nine-hole match at Port Charlotte Golf Club.
