BOYS GOLF: Charlotte finishes second to qualify for regionals

LAKE SUZY – That the Charlotte boys golf team advanced to regionals on Monday should come as no surprise. Of the 22 golfers that took part in the District 3A-15 golf tournament at Kingsway Country Club, 18 of them would advance to the next round.

What was a bit of a surprise was how the Tarpons were able to outlast Fort Myers for second place in the team competition. Not only did they get strong play from their top golfers, Billy Brumbaugh and Jacob Smith, but also from No. 5 golfer Ben Kamberg, who answered a good round by Fort Myers’ No. 5 golfer with one of his own.

Charlotte finished with a 369, just four shots better than the Green Wave.
