NAPLES — Golf is a mental game and any little change in routine can ruin a golfer’s afternoon.
A two-hour traffic jam did that for Lemon Bay at Monday’s Region 2A-7 tournament at The Vineyards. The Manta Rays shot a 365 — 27 strokes worse than a week ago at districts — to finish eight shots back of Estero for an automatic berth to the state meet.
No golfers qualified for state individually for Lemon Bay. Meadow Southworth was the closest, finishing seven behind Palmetto Ridge’s Megan Pegan with an 84.
